God of War Ragnarok has finally made its triumphant leap from the realm of consoles to the vast expanse of PC gaming. With its breathtaking visuals, immersive storytelling, and heart-pounding combat, the game promises to be a visual feast for those with the hardware to handle it.

However, as the old Norse saying goes, “Great power comes at a great cost,” and in this case, that cost is a formidable PC setup.

A World of Requirements

In the playStation blog a detailed breakdown of the system requirements for God of War Ragnarok, catering to a wide range of PC configurations. From the modest adventurer seeking a glimpse into the Norse mythology to the hardened warrior demanding maximum graphical fidelity, there’s a spec sheet for everyone.

Minimum Requirements: A Humble Beginning

For those with more modest systems, the minimum requirements offer a baseline for experiencing the game. A GTX 1060 or RX 5500 XT GPU, paired with an Intel i5-4670K or Ryzen 3 1200 CPU, will get you running at 1080p with an average of 30 frames per second on low settings.

While this might not be the most visually stunning experience, it’s a solid starting point for those eager to join Kratos and Atreus on their journey.

Recommended Requirements: The Balanced Warrior

To enjoy God of War Ragnarok at a consistently smooth 60 frames per second in 1080p with medium settings, players will need to step up their hardware. An RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700 GPU, combined with an Intel i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, is the recommended configuration. This setup offers a balanced experience, allowing players to appreciate the game’s visual splendor without breaking the bank.

High Settings: The Epic Journey

For those seeking a more immersive experience, the high settings preset aims to deliver stunning visuals at 1440p resolution and a steady 60 frames per second.

Achieving this requires a significant upgrade in hardware. An RTX 3070 or RX 6800 GPU, paired with an Intel i7-7700K or Ryzen 7 2700X CPU, is the recommended configuration for this level of performance.

Performance Mode: The Battle-Hardened Champion

If you’re chasing the ultimate 4K 60fps experience with high settings, the performance mode is where you’ll want to focus. To conquer this challenge, you’ll need a formidable arsenal of hardware. An RTX 3080 Ti or RX 6900 XT GPU, coupled with an Intel i7-7700K or Ryzen 7 2700X CPU, is the recommended setup.

Ultra Settings: The God of Hardware

For those who demand the absolute pinnacle of visual fidelity, the ultra settings push the boundaries of PC hardware to their limits. To experience God of War Ragnarok in all its glory at 4K with a rock-solid 60 frames per second, you’ll need nothing short of the latest and greatest components.

An RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7900 XT GPU, paired with an Intel i5-11600K or Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, is the recommended configuration for this demanding preset.

Beyond the Basics: Storage, RAM, and OS

While the GPU and CPU are the main pillars of a high-performance PC, other components play a crucial role in enjoying God of War Ragnarok. A speedy SSD is essential for fast loading times, and 16GB of RAM is recommended for optimal performance across all settings. Additionally, the game requires Windows 10 (64-bit) as the operating system.

A Worthy Challenge

God of War Ragnarok’s PC system requirements offer a range of options to accommodate different hardware configurations. Whether you’re aiming for a playable experience, smooth gameplay, stunning visuals, or pushing the boundaries of performance, there’s a configuration to suit your needs. With its optimized performance and impressive graphical fidelity, God of War Ragnarok is poised to be a standout title for PC gamers.
