What Is Goa Fresh?
Goa Fresh is a brand identity and packaging concept meant to give the state’s agricultural produce a distinct face. A clear brand helps farmers stand out, reach better markets and earn more for what they grow. Mr. Chouhan said better market linkages are key to improving farmers’ incomes, and he praised the focus on identity, branding and packaging. Awards were also given to the winners of the Goa Fresh Logo Design and Packaging Solution Design competitions, which shows that the brand was shaped with public participation.

Women and Self-Help Groups in Focus
The chief minister highlighted the growing role of women-led enterprises in Goa’s rural economy. He spoke about the revolving fund of more than ₹480 crore that supports Self-Help Groups, village-level entrepreneurship, training for women and the Lakhpati Didi initiative. Three Lakhpati Didis were felicitated during the programme, and sanction orders for Pink Electric Rickshaws were handed to 13 Self-Help Group members. He also spoke about efforts to link local produce with wider markets, including through APEDA.
Support Handed Out on the Ground
The programme was not just speeches. Petrol-operated water pumps were given to two farmers through ICAR, and two dairy farmers received Medicine and Mineral Mixture Kits. Cheques went to 18 Bank Linkage Committee members, 10 Village Organisations under PM-FME and six Integrated Farming Clusters CLF Chairpersons, and agricultural subsidy cheques were also distributed. A Swayampurna Mitra, two Village Panchayats and a progressive farmer were felicitated as well. You can read more about the minister on Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Wikipedia page.
New Policies and a Social Media Push
The event also launched the Farmers Producer Organisation (FPO) Policy and an informative booklet on state welfare initiatives, and it introduced the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) through a video. The leaders met influencers from across Goa and asked them to help promote Goa Fresh on YouTube, Instagram and other platforms. As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, the two leaders also joined a cleanliness drive at the KTC Bus Stand in Ponda. To learn more about the state, see Goa on Wikipedia.
Why It Matters?
For farmers, a recognisable brand can make the difference between selling at any price and selling at a fair one. Combined with support for women entrepreneurs and new policies for farmer groups, the six-year milestone points toward a more market-ready rural economy. Want more updates?
