Gerard Pique made his debut for Spain against England back in 11 February 2009. Since then he became one of the backbones of the star-studded Spanish side. He made one of the greatest center-back duos with Sergio Ramos. He had a dream career with the Spain team, winning the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the Euro in 2012. Gerard Pique has 102 caps for the Spanish side, scoring 5 goals.

He confirmed that he has already notified new Spain boss Luis Enrique of his decision.“I spoke to Luis Enrique and I told him my decision was made and pondered upo.,” the centre-back told reporters. “It was a lovely time with the national team, but now I want to focus on Barcelona.” Barcelona will face Sevilla in Tangier, Morocco on Sunday evening.

Despite all the jeers, the La Roja supporters gave to Gerrard Pique, they would know how big of a loss it is going to be. They would know, at a time when Sergio Ramos and the other architects of their glorious era nearing towards the end of the carrier. Andres Iniesta has already retired. Overall, Gerard Pique gave his best effort for the Spanish national team. He will continue to give his all for Barcelona now. We will see what happens with the central defender down the road.
