GeForce NOW Brings The Thing: Remastered, Legacy of Kain 1&2, and More
The Thing: Remastered is an overhaul of the 2002 third-person shooter based on John Carpenter’s classic 1982 film. Originally developed by Computer Artworks, remastering is being handled by Nightdive, a studio known for its excellent remasters of games like System Shock, Turok, and Doom 64.
Visual updates include anti-aliasing, per-pixel lighting, and resolutions up to 4K, with support for as much as 144 frames per second. GeForce NOW members have access to these enhancements, with Performance tier subscribers able to play at 1440p and Ultimate tier users able to see at 4K resolution and 120 fps for a truly innovative experience.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered Also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the franchise with a remaster of Raziel’s legendary journey of vampiric vengeance. Though alas not yet confirmed for anything else, this remaster of the first game has more detailed cut-scenes with higher fidelity models, new hero models for Raziel and Kain, upgraded enemy and boss models, and a new glow effect for Raziel’s eyes and Wraith Blade.
The remaster also introduces real-time shadows, a Day/Night cycle (which was cut from the original), a Photo Mode, and a new map and compass. With nostalgia and novelty, this remaster is sure to shine for long-time fans and newcomers both.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also became playable on GeForce NOW earlier this week, for users holding licenses from Steam, Microsoft Store, or PC Game Pass. In addition, path tracing will take advantage of the enhanced graphics for those who have a GFN Ultimate subscription.
The new games included in the update are available in the GeForce NOW library and include Fast Food Simulator (Steam, starts Dec. 10), The Spirit of the Samurai (Steam, starts Dec. 12), Diablo Immortal (Battle.net), The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria (Steam).
