A tipster on platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has suggested that the high-end Galaxy S26 Ultra may become the Galaxy S26 Note. The purpose could be to draw attention to the integrated S-pen, which was a standout feature of the Galaxy Note series but is now gone.
Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26 Plus May Be Rebranded as S26 Note and Pro details
And the rumors don’t end there. The same source speculates that the Galaxy S26+, which is the current mid-range model, may become the Galaxy S26 Pro. Samsung may be trying to follow the industry trend of “Pro” models denoting more advanced capabilities with this move. Notably, there isn’t a “Pro” model in the current Samsung S series lineup.
Remember that this is still very early in the process, and even the rumor’s source is only hinting that the Korean company is considering changing its branding—not that it has already been decided upon. Keep this in mind.
We believe there will be more harm than gain from changing the name. In the Galaxy S range, the term “Ultra” has some significance. This means you’re getting the best Samsung has to offer. People could mistake it for an entirely different series if it changes to “Note.”
There will be plenty of time for changes before launch because the Galaxy S26 series will serve as Samsung’s flagship in 2026. The Galaxy S25 series is the main emphasis right now. The premium S25 Ultra may feature minor design changes, but the name won’t change.
The theory is in line with previous discussions in the tech sector on Samsung’s future branding strategy, even though the source of these rumors has not been formally verified.
