From BOYS II PLANET to Their Own Stage — FLARE U’s Debut ‘WAY 2 U’ Is the Sweetest K-Pop Drop of May 2026

The wait is finally over for fans who’ve been rooting for these two since their survival show days. K-pop duo FLARE U has officially debuted — and their first mini album and music video are everything the hype promised.

FLARE U — Debut at a Glance

Who Are FLARE U?

FLARE U is a new duo consisting of former BOYS II PLANET contestants Chuei Li Yu and Kang Woo Jin. For fans who followed their journey on the survival show, this debut is the payoff they’ve been waiting for — two talented performers who clearly have chemistry, now finally with a stage and music entirely their own.

It’s always special when survival show contestants find their footing as a proper group, and FLARE U’s debut feels earned in the best possible way.

What Is ‘WAY 2 U’ About?

On May 13, FLARE U unveiled their first mini album YOUTH ERROR along with the music video for the title track WAY 2 U. The track is a hybrid pop song that captures the excitement of realizing romantic feelings that go beyond friendship after emotions suddenly spark — and rushing toward that person without hesitation.

That feeling of crossing the line from friendship into something more, heart racing, no plan — it’s universally relatable and perfectly calibrated as a debut concept. Bright, youthful, emotionally honest, and instantly memorable.

The MV delivers on the promise of the concept with a lovable, energetic visual style that shows both members at their most natural and confident. It’s a debut that doesn’t try too hard — it just lets the music and the duo’s genuine charm do the work.

The Mini Album: YOUTH ERROR

The album title YOUTH ERROR is a clever, self-aware statement for a debut — embracing the beautiful mistakes and emotional miscalculations of being young. It sets a strong thematic identity right from the start, the kind of artistic voice that helps new groups stand out in a crowded K-pop landscape.

For a duo emerging from a competitive survival format, FLARE U’s debut package shows real thoughtfulness about who they are and what story they want to tell — which is a great sign for what’s ahead.

The hybrid pop production on WAY 2 U also deserves credit — it balances freshness with accessibility, making it easy to stream on repeat without feeling generic. It’s the kind of debut track that ages well.
