Forbes Billionaires 2024 features 16 new names, three of them are women from India

On April 4, Forbes published their annual listings of the world’s wealthiest and youngest billionaires for 2024. The list of India’s wealthiest billionaires was also published by Forbes, and Mukesh Ambani of Reliance is the richest person in both Asia and India. With an estimated net worth of $83.4 billion, he is also the 9th richest person in the world. Businessman Gautam Adani still ranks second in terms of wealth in India, with a net worth of $47.2 billion, regardless of his losses.

Three women were among the 16 entrants to Forbes’ list of India’s billionaires for 2024. Two of these three were raised with money.

Rekha Jhunjhunwala

Rekha Jhunjhunwala has taken over the position of her late husband, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who had a net worth of $5.1 billion. Notably, she has achieved the highest ranking among Indian individuals in the prestigious Hurun Global Rich List 2024. Known as India’s Warren Buffett, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala passed away on August 14, 2022, at the age of 62. As Rekha assumes this significant role, her financial expertise and business acumen are expected to uphold the family’s legacy.

In addition to her own, Rekha Jhunjhunwala received her husband’s stock portfolio, which consists of 29 investments, including Titan, Tata Motors, and Crisil.

Rohiqa Cyrus Mistry:

Rohiqa Cyrus Mistry, aged 55, is the daughter-in-law of the deceased construction magnate Pallonji Mistry and she is also a billionaire in her own capacity. She is Iqbal Chagla’s daughter Rohiqa and was previously married to Cyrus Mistry, the younger son of Pallonji Mistry who tragically lost his life in a car accident on September 4, 2022, at the age of 54. Cyrus and Rohiqa’s marriage lasted 30 years; they now have two kids. In terms of new female billionaires in 2024, she tops the list. She has a net worth of $7 billion.

Saroj Rani Gupta​

Saroj Rani Gupta, who is 72 years old and a self-made billionaire, was featured in Forbes magazine. SK Gupta and his wife founded APL Apollo Tubes in 1986, initially known as Bihar Tubes. Presently valued at $1.2 billion, the company is led by their son Sanjay Gupta as the Managing Director.
