A number of football rule changes are being discussed for the coming seasons. The most prominent of which is the introduction of a stopwatch system. In other words, when the ball goes out of play, or in the case of celebrations.
Around ninety seconds have been awarded for the post-goal celebrations. And any that goes beyond that limit will be curbed by the referee on the pitch. Moreover, the time that is being exceeded will also be added to extra time.
Football rule changes from 2023/24 you should know of
There are two other football rule changes that need to be discussed among fans. The first is the anti-Emi Martinez rule which will prevent goalkeepers from trash-talking penalty takers before they step up to take the spot kick. There is also a chance they will not be allowed to touch the crossbar, the posts or the netting to play mind games.
The second concerns the offside rule. As things stand, the rule is pretty clear with no advantage played to any side. But, Arsene Wenger is in favour of a striker’s advantage from the coming season.
A striker will not be considered offside if he has received the ball from an opponent who has deliberately played the ball after having control. Such a teammate would have the opportunity to pass to a teammate, gain possession of the ball or clear the ball.
Moreover, a defending player leaving the pitch without the referee’s permission is understood to be on the goalline. On the other hand, an attacking player doing the same will not be involved in the play and will be disqualified from offside calls.
