Folarin Balogun renewed his contract with Arsenal, to the happiness of many Gunners. He wanted to stay at the club and is a fan of the club himself. It wasn’t an easy job for Edu Gaspar or Mikel Arteta to convince him to stay since many European and in particular, German clubs tried for him but he wanted to stay.
The future is with the first team. He currently captains the Arsenal U23 team in Premier League 2 and is one of the most promising forwards in the division. He has scored 12 goals across 25 appearances for Arsenal and has also featured for the first team in the Europa League.
The contract extension is until 2025, and the 19 year old will be expected to feature in the first team much more often. Speaking on Arsenal’s transfer plans for the future, Fabrizio Romano said that a new centre-back could also be signed. Everything will depend on David Luiz and whether or not he extends his contract with the London club.
Arsenal are also going to sign a right-back this summer, with Hector Bellerin reportedly set to leave at the end of the season. Achraf Hakimi has been rumoured to be the target for the London Reds, but Inter will not let the Moroccan go. They will hence, have to look elsewhere for an potential target.
