Florian Wirtz has been named the Bundesliga 23/24 Player of the Season, helping Bayer Leverkusen win the league for the first time in their history. The 21-year-old scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in the league, and was the difference maker for his side throughout the season.
The youngster had stiff competition against Harry Kane in terms of the POTY award. However, in spite of winning the top scorer award in his first Bundesliga season, Kane has fallen short to Wirtz, who has helped his side achieve something truly special in the form of an unbeaten season.

In his first full season since the ACL injury he sustained in 2022, Wirtz has shown exactly why he is so highly rated. The German midfielder has been unplayable at his best, and has shown incredible composure in the final third to score himself or to find teammates who can make the scoreline tick.
Now, he has the chance to end the season with an unprecedented treble, with the DFB Pokal finals against Kaiserslautern and the Europa League finals against Atalanta the only two games left.
And once the club season is over, Florian Wirtz will once again be an important player when Germany host the European Championships this summer. The midfielder has been called up by Julian Nagelsmann, and will surely be a key part of the team.
