India’s 10-minute delivery race just got another major data point. Flipkart Minutes has crossed 1,000 micro fulfilment centers in under two years, and the growth numbers behind that milestone reveal exactly where quick commerce is headed next.

The Milestone, By the Numbers

According to Flipkart’s official announcement, Flipkart Minutes has scaled to 1,000 micro fulfilment centres across 130+ cities and 8,000+ pincodes — a milestone reached less than two years after its August 2024 launch.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities Are the Real Story

While metro growth remains steady, the standout figure here is the 42X jump in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. Hemant Badri, SVP at Flipkart Group, said in the announcement that the company sees the next phase of quick commerce growth coming from “deeper reach, wider selection, and greater accessibility” — with smaller towns like Patna, Guwahati, and Siliguri now firmly part of the network.

Flipkart Minutes Head Kunal Gupta added that consumer behaviour is shifting too: average order value for fruits and vegetables is up 30%, and demand is spreading well beyond groceries into electronics, beauty, wellness, and lifestyle categories.

Despite trailing Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart on raw store count, Flipkart Minutes is adding close to 100 new dark stores every month and aims to hit roughly 1,500 micro fulfilment centers in the coming months — a pace that would meaningfully close the gap.

Sustainability Push Alongside the Scale-Up

Flipkart also highlighted its environmental initiatives tied to this expansion: the company doubled its electric vehicle delivery fleet over the past year, with EVs now powering over 10% of deliveries, while 20% of customers opted for reusable bags during the period.

The company’s Samarth Krishi programme has also onboarded 3,000+ farmers through Farmer Produce Organizations, connecting agricultural producers directly to Flipkart Minutes’ fulfilment network.

The Bottom Line

Flipkart Minutes crossing 1,000 micro fulfilment centers isn’t just a vanity milestone — the 42X Tier 2/3 growth and rising Gen Z adoption suggest quick commerce is shifting from a metro convenience into a genuinely mainstream retail habit across India. With Amazon, Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart all racing for the same dark-store real estate, the next 12 months could decide who truly leads this space.
