Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all players are required to be in a bio-secure bubble when they are playing a series or a tournament. The Indian cricket team is currently touring Australia.

The 4-match Test series is going on with Australia winning the first match and then India winning the second to level the series 1-1.

But on the occasion of New Year, five Indian cricket team players were seen to eat at an indoor venue on Friday in Melbourne. They are now charged with possible violations of COVID rules.

The five players – Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Navdeep Saini have been placed in isolation after video emerged on social media.

The five players have been kept in isolation but can still train “in accordance with the strict protocols that have been put in place to ensure the ongoing safety of all members of the Indian and Australian squads,” said a Cricket Australia statement on Saturday night.

“The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter and seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.

“In the interim, on the advice of the Australian and Indian medical teams, the aforementioned players have been placed in isolation as a precaution. This will include separating the group of players from the broader Indian and Australian squads when traveling and at the training venue.”

The person who posted the video, Navaldeep Singh Singh told on Friday that he paid the bill for the table then hugged Pant, although on Saturday he claimed there was no hug and players kept their distance.

The players will be put under investigation as there are strict rules in place to help prevent the spread of COVID 19. The BCCI will take this matter further and then decide if they are found guilty.

The third test between Australia and India will begin on 7th January at the SCG.
