Wolves’ record signing Fabio Silva is set to join Scottish club Rangers on a loan deal from January. Both clubs have an agreement over the move, which will not include a buy option. Hence, the player will return to the Midlands club at the end of the season as he is still considered a part of their future project.
He was signed from Porto in 2020 for a club record £35 million, when he was just 18 years old. The Portuguese forward hasn’t been able to nail down a starting spot just yet, owing to a lack of consistency. And now, Wolves want him to get more game time in a different European league so that he can start to get more experience.
Fabio Silva to sign for Rangers on loan
Since joining the Premier League club, Silva has made only 29 starts, and spent last season on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven. He scored 15 times in 46 games, but has failed to bring that form over to the Premier League.
Fabio Silva has only scored once this season, with his goal coming in the EFL Cup. He hasn’t started a game since 3 September, and has only made 10 appearances for Wolves this season.
Should the 21-year-old hit the ground running, he could be a significant addition to the Rangers squad as they aim to battle Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title and make it beyond the Europa League last 16.
