Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel have both been charged by the English FA following their headed exchange in the London derby. The two managers had a quarrel at full-time, after a heated handshake that turned into a verbal spar.
Conte celebrated Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s equaliser too close to the Chelsea dugout, following Kai Havertz not getting a free kick for a tackle from behind. That was the beginning of the fight between the two managers, which was followed up by the confrontation at the end of the game.
FA charges both Tuchel and Conte following heated exchange
The official statement from the Football Association read as follows:
“Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have both been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3, following the Premier League fixture between Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday 14 August 2022. It is alleged that the behaviour of both managers was improper following the end of the fixture.
“Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have until Thursday 18 August 2022 to provide their respective responses.”
Chelsea boss Tuchel also commented on the fact that Anthony Taylor has had a history of decisions against the Blues in big matches, saying: “I don’t think that just some of the fans think that: I can assure you that the whole dressing room of us, every person thinks that.
“You know the players, they know what’s going on when they are on the pitch. They know it.”
