Caught a cute little Sewaddle and wondering how to transform it into the powerful Leavanny? You’re in the right place! This Bug/Grass-type evolution line from the Unova region offers solid utility in both PvP and PvE battles—but only if you know how to evolve them properly.

Whether you caught Sewaddle during a Community Day event or stumbled upon one in the wild, this guide covers everything you need to complete this three-stage evolution line efficiently.

Evolving Swadloon- Sewaddle Evolution Requirements at a Glance

Evolution Stage	Candy Required	Total Candy Needed	Special Requirements
Sewaddle → Swadloon	25 Candies	25	None
Swadloon → Leavanny	100 Candies	125 total	None
Shiny Versions	Same as above	125 total	Same process applies

Good news: Unlike some Pokemon that require special items, walking distances, or time-based evolution tricks, Sewaddle’s evolution line only needs Candy. No complicated steps—just straightforward candy collection!

How to Evolve Sewaddle into Swadloon

Getting your first evolution is quick and simple:

Catch or obtain a Sewaddle through wild encounters, eggs, raids, or trades
Collect 25 Sewaddle Candies using the methods below
Open your Pokemon menu and select your Sewaddle
Tap the “Evolve” button and confirm

Boom! You now have a Swadloon. This cocoon-like Pokemon serves as the middle stage before your final evolution.

How to Evolve Swadloon into Leavanny

The second evolution requires more patience:

Accumulate 100 additional Sewaddle Candies (125 total if evolving from Sewaddle)
Select your Swadloon from your Pokemon collection
Hit “Evolve” and watch your Swadloon transform into the elegant Leavanny

Leavanny boasts significantly better stats, making the candy investment worthwhile for competitive play.

Stats Breakdown: Is Leavanny Worth It?

Here’s how the evolution line stacks up:

Sewaddle Stats:

Max CP: 1,105
Attack: 96 | Defense: 124 | Stamina: 128

Swadloon Stats:

Max CP: 1,549
Attack: 115 | Defense: 162 | Stamina: 146

Leavanny Stats:

Max CP: 2,917
Attack: 205 | Defense: 165 | Stamina: 181

The massive CP jump from Swadloon to Leavanny (nearly double!) makes completing the evolution essential for battles. Leavanny’s 205 Attack stat provides solid damage output in Great League and Ultra League formats.

Fast Ways to Farm Sewaddle Candy

Make Sewaddle Your Buddy: Walk with Sewaddle as your Buddy Pokemon to earn candy passively. The more you walk, the more candy you collect without catching additional Pokemon.

Catch Wild Sewaddle: Every Sewaddle you catch rewards 3 Candies (6 with Pinap Berries). During Community Day events, Sewaddle spawns increase dramatically.

Transfer Extras: Transfer unwanted Sewaddle to Professor Willow for 1 Candy each. Keep your best IV specimens!

Hatch Eggs: Sewaddle occasionally appears in 2km and 5km eggs, rewarding 5-20 Candies upon hatching.

Defeat Swadloon Raids: Four-star Raid Battles featuring Swadloon reward both Pokemon and Candies when defeated.

Use Rare Candy: Convert Rare Candy into Sewaddle Candy if you’re impatient—though save these for rarer Pokemon.

According to the official Pokemon GO website, Community Day events are the most efficient time to complete evolution lines, offering bonuses like reduced evolution costs or exclusive moves.

Shiny Sewaddle Evolution

Shiny hunters, rejoice! Shiny Sewaddle follows the exact same evolution process as regular Sewaddle. The candy requirements don’t change, and your beautiful orange Shiny Sewaddle will evolve into equally stunning Shiny Swadloon and Shiny Leavanny variants.

Pro Tip: During Community Day events, Shiny rates increase dramatically (approximately 1 in 25), making it the perfect time to hunt for shiny variants while farming candy simultaneously.

Best Times to Evolve Sewaddle

During Community Day: Evolving Leavanny during its featured Community Day often grants exclusive charged moves unavailable otherwise. Check event details before evolving!

With Lucky Eggs Active: Double your XP gains by activating a Lucky Egg before mass-evolving Pokemon, including your Sewaddle line.

After Catching Enough: Wait until you have 125+ Candies before starting evolution to ensure you can complete the full line without interruption.

Is Leavanny Good in Pokemon GO?

Leavanny performs respectably in Great League PvP with access to moves like Leaf Blade (fast energy generation) and X-Scissor. However, its Bug/Grass typing creates significant weaknesses to Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Rock attacks—making it situational rather than meta-defining.

For PvE content, Leavanny works well against Water, Ground, and Rock-type raid bosses but faces stiff competition from stronger Grass and Bug attackers like Roserade and Genesect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I evolve Sewaddle without catching more Sewaddle?

A: Yes! Make Sewaddle your Buddy Pokemon and walk to earn candies passively. You earn 1 Candy for every 1km walked with Sewaddle as your buddy. To evolve from Sewaddle to Leavanny (125 Candies total), you’d need to walk 125km. Use Pinap Berries when catching Sewaddle to double candy rewards (6 instead of 3), significantly reducing grinding time. Rare Candy can also be converted to Sewaddle Candy if you’re impatient, though it’s better saved for legendary Pokemon.

Q: Does Leavanny have any exclusive Community Day moves I should know about?

A: During Sewaddle Community Day events, Leavanny can learn exclusive charged moves by evolving during or shortly after the event window. For the October 2024 Community Day, evolving Swadloon into Leavanny before the event deadline granted access to Magical Leaf, a powerful Grass-type move. Always check official Pokemon GO announcements before Community Days to see if exclusive moves are available—these often make evolved Pokemon significantly stronger in PvP and PvE content, making timing crucial for competitive players.
