Everything We Know About Avengers: Doomsday — Cast, Trailers, and Release Date

The wait is almost over. Avengers: Doomsday marks the first true team-up movie for the Avengers since 2019’s Endgame, and it’s bringing together heroes from three entirely different universes to face one of Marvel’s most legendary villains. Here’s everything confirmed so far.

Release Date and How to Watch Early Footage

The film hits theaters on Friday, December 18, 2026. Before that, fans got an early taste through Avengers: Endgame — Encore, a theatrical re-release that included an exclusive first look at Doomsday, with IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings offering an additional sneak peek.

The Plot So Far

The official synopsis teases beloved heroes from three distinct universes set on a deadly collision course, facing an existential threat unlike anything they’ve encountered before. Those three universes appear to be the mainline MCU, the Fantastic Four’s reality, and the X-Men’s world — a genuine multiverse mashup.

Avengers: Doomsday : Key Cast Highlights

The cast also includes Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Channing Tatum, among many others — arguably one of the most stacked ensembles in MCU history.

The Robert Downey Jr. Twist

Downey isn’t reprising Tony Stark. Instead, he’s stepping into the role of Victor von Doom — a character who first appeared in Fantastic Four comics in 1962 and remains largely a mystery in the MCU, having only briefly appeared in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Directors and What Comes Next

Anthony and Joe Russo — the duo behind Infinity War and Endgame — are back in the director’s chair. Doomsday will be the 39th MCU film overall and sets up the following chapter, Avengers: Secret Wars, slated for December 17, 2027.

Should You Rewatch Anything First?

Disney+’s official prep list includes Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Loki, Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps — though newcomers can jump in without feeling lost.
