After a delay of 1 year, the European Championship is finally about to start tomorrow with Italy taking on Turkey. The start of the much-awaited tournament will be marked by a glorious Euro 2020 opening ceremony.
Valentina Vezzali, Italy’s Undersecretary for Sport said that opening the Stadio Olimpico for Euro 2020 is ‘the light at the end of the tunnel’ for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vezzali said: “This result isn’t just for football, but all of Italian sport. It’s not opening a stadium, but a symbolic moment. It is the light at the end of the tunnel. We hope that June 11 can be the culminating moment of a process of rebirth for the entire sporting movement.”
