However, Enola’s romantic bliss is incredibly short-lived.

The trailer quickly pulls the rug out from under the newly engaged detective with a massive, shocking revelation: her legendary older brother, Sherlock, has gone missing. This first trailer for Enola Holmes 3 finds Millie Bobby Brown’s mystery-solving maverick being both figuratively and literally pulled in all directions.

Beyond the montage of fiery explosions, coded journals, and underground caves, the trailer highlights Enola’s struggle with an over-the-top, feathery gown as she grapples with the very real fear of losing her independent identity to marriage. It also treats us to a fantastic reunion with Eudoria Holmes—who cheekily tasks Enola with rescuing her “favorite child”—and wraps up with a classic bit of dark wit regarding Tewkesbury being covered in another man’s blood.

A New Director Takes the Reins

One of the biggest changes for the third film is behind the camera. “Adolescence” director Philip Barantini has taken the directing reins from Harry Bradbeer, who helmed the first two “Enola Holmes” films. Like its previous installments, “Enola Holmes 3” is written by Jack Thorne, who worked with Barantini on “Adolescence.” It’s based on the book series “The Enola Holmes Mysteries” by Nancy Springer.
