Brazilian youngster Endrick Felipe is deemed to be the next superstar coming out of Brazil. The 16-year-old caught the eye of top European clubs like Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea. But in the end, the Spanish club won the race for the signature of the Palmeiras talent.
Endrick currently plays for the Brazilian club Palmeiras. He has the best goal per 90 min ratio in the 2022 Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A and he is amongst the most highly-rated talents to come out of Brazil.
Endrick participated in a traditional charity match organized every year by Brazil legend Zico. He scored three goals in the match and later gave an interview with Marca about his move to Real Madrid in 2024.
Endrick reveals the reason for choosing Real Madrid as his next club
Question: How do you feel after the announcement of your signing with Real Madrid?
Answer: I am very happy, I am very grateful to God but I have my feet on the ground. I haven’t won anything yet. I thank God a lot for the present. The future belongs only to God. In 2024, when I go to Real Madrid, I hope to have a good time. At the moment I am at Palmeiras, but I will be supporting from afar. May Vinicius, who is my friend, have a great season, Eder [Militao], Rodry[go Goes]… and may Real Madrid win more Champions Leagues, LaLiga Santanders and the Supercopa de Espanas for now.
Question: Why did you choose Real Madrid? You had other offers from other teams…
Answer: Real Madrid are a very big team. Vini had sent me messages and gave me more hope. Cristiano also, who is my idol, played for Real Madrid. That’s why I chose Real Madrid and I think it’s the right choice. God has always been with me and he has told me that it is the best way.
Question: You have spect time with Vini recently, what advice has he given you? What has he told you?
Answer: Several pieces of advice. I couldn’t even talk about it here because there has been so much advice. I would be here talking for a long time. I keep it to myself. But he has not only given me advice for now, but for my whole life. He is my friend and I think this friendship will last for many years. I hope I can exchange many passes with him and score goals.
Question: Have you been able to talk to Carlo Ancelotti or other players in the team?
Answer: Yes, I spoke with Ancelotti, with Rodrygo, with Eder, with the Brazilians. I am very grateful to God for everything that happens in my life and I hope that many good things will come, but you have to keep your feet on the ground, have humility and persevere.
Question: Today you had fun, you scored several goals…
Answer: I didn’t play very seriously but I don’t like to lose. But it was a good game, I think people liked it. Now I’m going back to Sao Paulo to continue training, which is what I have to do to stay strong ahead of next season.
