Real Madrid’s young forward, Endrick, continues to make waves, setting new club records even amidst tough Champions League outings.

The 18-year-old Brazilian became the youngest player to start a Champions League game for Real Madrid, breaking a record long held by club legend Raul Gonzalez. Despite Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Lille on October 3, Endrick’s groundbreaking accomplishments and decision to stay with the club offer a promising outlook for Madrid’s future.

Endrick’s Record-Breaking Start

Endrick’s debut in Real Madrid’s starting lineup in the Champions League on October 3 marked a historic milestone. At just 18 years and 73 days old, he surpassed Raul’s previous record of 18 years and 78 days set in 1995 against Ajax. Though Real Madrid struggled to overcome a resilient Lille, the achievement stands as a testament to Endrick’s burgeoning role within the squad.

The young forward expressed his pride in the opportunity, remarking on the difficulty of competing at “the best club in the world.” Despite the disappointing result, Endrick remained positive, emphasizing the importance of training and preparation for the next match against Villarreal.

A Season of Rising Achievements

This latest record isn’t Endrick’s only feat. Last month, he etched his name into Madrid’s record books by becoming the club’s youngest Champions League scorer, netting a stoppage-time goal in a 3-1 victory against Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabeu. His continued efforts demonstrate a remarkable trajectory, with fans and analysts drawing comparisons to established Real Madrid stars.

Endrick has also set a record as the youngest foreign player to score in La Liga for Real Madrid. At 18 years and 35 days, he surpassed the previous record held by Raphael Varane, who scored at 18 years and 152 days back in 2011. Each milestone reflects his increasing influence on the pitch as he navigates the challenges of European football with remarkable resilience.

Reflecting on His First Start

The debut against Lille was no easy introduction to European football for Endrick. The match demanded physical and tactical endurance, with Lille’s organized defense testing Real Madrid’s attacking strategy. Reflecting on his experience, Endrick described the game as “tough,” praising Lille’s skill while underlining his determination to continue improving.

The forward revealed the mix of emotions he felt when coach Carlo Ancelotti entrusted him with a starting position. “When Ancelotti told me, it was an incredible feeling because I’m at the best club in the world,” Endrick shared, underlining the weight of representing Madrid on the international stage. He added that while the result wasn’t what he hoped for, his focus remains firmly on Madrid’s goals and progressing in every training session.

Embracing Competition at the Santiago Bernabeu

Endrick faces stiff competition from Real Madrid’s established stars, including compatriots Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, as well as marquee signing Kylian Mbappe. Despite these challenges, Endrick has already made nine appearances across all competitions, scoring twice, indicating his capability and promise within Madrid’s squad.

Real Madrid’s forward pipeline is renowned for its intensity, but Endrick appears to be adjusting seamlessly. His representatives have expressed satisfaction with his progression, dispelling any rumors of a potential loan move in January 2025. Endrick himself shares this sentiment, feeling optimistic about his game time and development under the guidance of Ancelotti and seasoned teammates.

Learning from Vinicius’ Path

Endrick’s path mirrors that of Vinicius Junior, who also joined Real Madrid at 18 and experienced a gradual integration into the squad. Vinicius faced a period of adaptation before becoming a key player, culminating in a Ballon d’Or nomination in 2024. Vinicius’ journey serves as both an inspiration and a roadmap for Endrick, showing that patience and perseverance within Madrid’s system can ultimately lead to stardom.

A Firm Decision: Endrick Stays with Madrid

Looking ahead to the January transfer window, Endrick has put speculation to rest regarding a possible loan. According to sources close to the player, he has chosen to stay with Real Madrid, fully committed to his role and growth within the squad. His determination to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu aligns with Real Madrid’s plans, as the club sees him as an integral part of their future lineup.

In his own words, Endrick expressed contentment with his current playing time and believes his future lies with Madrid. This decision reflects a maturity beyond his years, as he prioritizes experience and development over immediate stardom elsewhere.

Endrick’s Journey Just Beginning

While the loss to Lille may have stung, Endrick’s contributions to Real Madrid continue to cement his reputation as one of football’s brightest talents. With records already under his belt, he looks poised to follow in the footsteps of past Madrid icons, perhaps even eclipsing their achievements in the years to come. The club’s faith in his potential, coupled with his steadfast commitment, signals a promising era for Real Madrid fans eager to witness the rise of another Brazilian star.

As the season progresses, Endrick’s presence will be one to watch, with every appearance offering another glimpse of his prodigious talent. For now, he’s content to stay, train, and prove himself at the highest level, fully aware that his journey with Real Madrid is only beginning.
