Emmy Awards 2023- Emmys is one of the high-esteem awards to cherish the artistic and technical merit
On Monday night, global television honored the best on the stage of the 2023 International Emmy Awards. For the Emmy Award, 56 people were nominated, which has been handed out by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences that came across 20 countries along with six continents.
As a sign of how important the streaming companies have become in the international TV industry, Amazon and Netflix have dominated the best drama category this year. In between this, there are the two nominees who have come from Netflix: South Korean legal drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, the show features Park Eun-bin as an autistic rookie female lawyer with a genius IQ, and German period drama The Emperess, the mesmerizing love story between Austrian-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph and Elisabeth von Wittelsbach, aka “Sissi.”
In between this, there are the two nominees came from Amazon: the Argentine historical thriller Yosi, the Regretful Spy belongs to the director Daniel Burman, about the real-life intelligence scandal that led to two of the worst terrorist attacks in Latin America, and British thriller The Devil’s Hour starring Peter Capaldi. Netflix has scored in between the two best comedy nominees for its Northern Irish hit Derry Girls and Vir Das: Landing as a stand-up special from one of India’s top comedians. The brand new Traditional TV meanwhile collected some spots along with nods for season two of those French reality shows sending Le Flambeau and Argentine series The Boss belongs to the Star+ also got nominated.
In this show, the toughest race happened this year in the best actress category, with Wonder Woman star Connie Nielsen nominated for featuring the real-life Out of Africa author in Danish biopic Becoming Karen Blixen, Billie Piper up for I Hate Suzie Too, the second season of her epic British HBO Max series, Indian actress Shefali Shah also nominated for season two of Netflix’s Delhi Crime (the best drama winner at the 2020 International Emmys), and Karla Souza for Amazon’s Mexican sports drama Dive.
Among all of this, the biggest name actor category was Black Panther and The Hobbit star Martin Freeman got nominated for his role in BBC drama The Responder as a crisis-stricken and morally compromised policeman who is working the night shift and becomes a first responder on the mean streets of Liverpool. The veteran Argentine actor Gustavo Bassani was nominated in the same genre for his performance in Yosi, the Regretful Spy, Swedish actor Jonas Karlsson was moved forward for C4’s Swedish survival thriller Riding in Darkness, and Jim Sarbh got nominated for the leading role in Indian aerospace drama Rocket Boys.
The creator of Succession Jesse Armstrong got the 2023 Founders Award in honor of his life’s work. Ektaa R. Kapoor is the co-founder of the Indian TV production powerhouse Balaji Telefilms. She was honored with the 2023 International Emmy Directorate Award, which highlights excellence among C-suite executives.
In between this, The International Academy screened this year’s nominees at the annual International Emmy World Television Festival in New York from Nov. 17 to 19.
