Created by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, this action RPG has mesmerized millions since its release on February 25, 2022. With over 25 million copies sold, it continues to set the standard for the genre, having won the Game of the Year award at the 2022 The Game Awards.

Elden Ring: Character Build Types

Crafting a specialized character is crucial for tackling the over 100 boss encounters scattered throughout the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Based on our experience, focusing your attribute points on a primary damage stat offers the best chance for victory.

Elden Ring: Strength Build: Weapon Choices and Stats

Strength builds shine by staggering bosses with powerful attacks. Prioritize the Vigor and Strength attributes and opt for colossal weapons like the Greatsword. These weapons benefit greatly from heavy infusions, which deal substantial poise damage. IGN confirms this approach.

Dexterity Build: Fast Attacks and Evasion Techniques

Dexterity builds depend on speed and critical hits. Weapons like the new Backhand Blades from the expansion allow for superior mobility. Investing in Dexterity and Endurance helps you dodge through boss combos while landing quick, consistent strikes.

Intelligence Build: Spell Selection and Casting Speed

Intelligence builds take advantage of powerful sorceries to keep distance from foes. Focus on increasing your Intelligence and Mind to expand your FP pool. Choosing spells like Comet Azur or Night Comet can deliver high damage while keeping you safely away from a boss’s immediate attacks.

Faith Build: Buffs and Healing Strategies

Faith builds bring versatility by combining offensive incantations with self-buffs. Striking a balance between Faith and Vigor helps maintain high survivability. Casting Golden Vow and Flame, Grant Me Strength can significantly enhance your defensive and offensive capabilities during intense battles.

Strategies for Late Game Bosses

Mastering combat isn’t just about dealing high damage; you also need to understand the complex mechanics that govern the Lands Between. The expansion introduced new weapon categories, like the Great Katana, offering unique options to adapt your strategy against unpredictable boss movements. For more details, check out Destructoid.

Understanding Boss Patterns: Key Observations

Every boss has a specific rhythm. We suggest spending the first few attempts just observing their attack wind-ups instead of attacking. Recognizing these cues is crucial for timing your dodges and finding the right moment to counter-attack.

Stamina Management: Importance in Combat

Your stamina is a vital resource. Never let your stamina bar run completely empty, as you’ll need some left to dodge incoming follow-up strikes. Always keep enough stamina for at least one emergency roll to avoid getting caught in a boss’s long-range combo.

Equipment Load: Optimal Weight for Mobility

Keeping a “Medium Load” is essential for success. If your equipment burden exceeds 70%, your dodge roll will slow down and become ineffective. Always choose armor that offers decent protection while maintaining a quick and responsive roll speed.

Summons and Co-op: Enhancing Boss Encounters

If you find a boss overwhelming, don’t hesitate to use Spirit Ashes or summon other players. These allies can distract the boss, drawing its attention away from you. This gives you the chance to cast spells or land heavy attacks without interruption.

As the community continues to explore the Land of Shadow, you’ll see these meta-builds evolve. Keep an eye out for updates on how upcoming balance patches might affect your character’s effectiveness in the endgame.
