Mohun Bagan’s Unbroken Streak

In the context of the ISL, Mohun Bagan has maintained an unblemished record against East Bengal. The Mariners have never lost a match to East Bengal in the league, a testament to their tactical superiority and resilience. Out of their encounters, only one match resulted in a draw with a 2-2 scoreline last season. Mohun Bagan quickly avenged this in the following derby with a convincing 3-1 victory.

Significance of the Undefeated Record

Mohun Bagan’s undefeated streak in the Kolkata Derby is not just a matter of pride but also a psychological advantage. It reinforces their status as a formidable force in Indian football and adds pressure on East Bengal, who are eager to break this streak. This ongoing rivalry continues to be a marquee event in the ISL, drawing significant attention from fans nationwide.

Current League Standings

As the current season unfolds, Mohun Bagan finds themselves in a strong position, sitting fourth in the league standings. With two wins, a loss, and a draw, they are in a competitive spot to challenge for the top positions. In stark contrast, East Bengal is struggling at the bottom of the standings, having yet to secure a victory or even a draw. This disparity further emphasizes the challenges East Bengal faces in overcoming their rivals.

The Canceled Durand Cup Match

Earlier this season, fans were eagerly anticipating another chapter in the Kolkata Derby during the Durand Cup. Unfortunately, protests in the city led to the cancellation of the match, denying supporters a chance to witness the clash. This cancellation has only heightened the anticipation for their upcoming ISL encounter, where stakes are higher than ever.

As East Bengal and Mohun Bagan gear up for their next ISL meeting, all eyes will be on whether East Bengal can finally break their winless streak against the Mariners. For Mohun Bagan, maintaining their dominant form will be crucial to solidifying their position in the league and continuing their legacy in the Kolkata Derby.
