DQ41 Sets a Record Before It Even Releases — Amazon Prime Video Acquires Dulquer Salmaan’s Romantic Thriller for a Historic Price

Dulquer Salmaan hasn’t even finished shooting his 41st film — and it’s already making history. At Amazon Prime Video’s marquee ‘It All Starts Here’ event in Mumbai on March 19, 2026, one announcement stood out above the rest: the platform has acquired the OTT streaming rights of DQ41 — Dulquer Salmaan and Pooja Hegde’s untitled Telugu romantic drama — for a record-breaking price.

The most striking detail? The shoot isn’t even complete yet, and Amazon Prime Video has already locked in the rights — breaking Dulquer’s own previous OTT record set by King of Kotha, which had sold for ₹41 crore to Zee5. MP1st DQ, as his fans call him, has just beaten himself.

DQ41 : Everything You Need to Know

🎬 What Is DQ41 About?

Billed as a contemporary love story laced with intense human emotions, DQ41 promises a fresh and soulful cinematic experience — combining romance with rich, dramatic elements that take it beyond a standard love story.

The first poster unveiled at the Prime Video event features Dulquer and Pooja seated on a scooty — Pooja in the driver’s seat — looking carefree and immersed in each other’s company. The light-hearted imagery hints at a layered narrative beneath its breezy exterior. In other words, don’t let the charm fool you — this one has depth.

A Pairing That Was Destiny

This marks the first-ever on-screen collaboration between Dulquer Salmaan and Pooja Hegde — and there’s a fascinating backstory to it. Pooja was originally cast as Sita in Sita Ramam but had to step away due to her commitments to Radhe Shyam. What couldn’t happen then is finally happening now.

The producers called their chemistry “magical” — and given how much each of them has individually elevated their respective films, that’s not an empty claim.

Veteran actress Ramya Krishnan — beloved globally for Baahubali — has also joined the cast, with her role to be announced shortly. This keeps getting better.

Why This Record Matters

Dulquer has been steadily expanding his brand beyond Malayalam cinema into Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi — and the impact he has created in Telugu in a short span is enormous, having achieved the 100 crore club with Lucky Baskhar, something even veterans like Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja haven’t done in recent years.

The fact that Amazon Prime Video locked down DQ41’s OTT rights before the film even finished shooting speaks volumes about the confidence the platform has in Dulquer’s pulling power — and his ability to deliver films that resonate far beyond their regional base.
