Doraemon: Castle of the Undersea Devil Box Office Day 2: Rs 5.50 Crore and a Franchise Record in Sight

Blue robot cat, big box office. Doraemon: Castle of the Undersea Devil is off to a flying start in India, and the numbers suggest it’s heading for a new high for the beloved anime franchise.

Doraemon Box Office : Overview

A Solid Hold on Day 2

The film collected an estimated Rs 2.60 crore on Saturday, a drop of only 10% from opening day. For a children’s and family title, that’s a healthy hold, especially with Drishyam: The Conclusion dominating the weekend.

The opening weekend is expected to close around Rs 8 to 9 crore.

Why This Is a Big Deal?

Doraemon films have long had a loyal following in India, but their theatrical runs have traditionally been modest, usually around Rs 5 crore gross. This time, the film has matched that figure in just two days.

That points to a breakout performance. Trade estimates suggest it’s on course to become the franchise’s biggest instalment in India, with a considerably stronger run than its predecessors.

Who Is Watching?

Family audiences are the obvious driver. Doraemon is one of the few animated brands that works for kids, teens and nostalgic adults, so it can pull in several age groups at once. The weekend release helps too, since parents can bring the children along without it clashing with school. You can read more about the character on Doraemon’s Wikipedia page.

What to Watch Next?

Monday’s numbers will matter most. Children’s films usually drop on weekdays, so a steady hold would be a sign that word of mouth is strong. Competition from the big new release will also play a role in how long the film keeps its screens.
