Rugged smartphones have a special market for people who like to carry phones that could withstand anything, though they might be not the coolest in terms of design, companies like Doogee tries to make them as unique as possible. So, their new addition to its S-series i.e. the Doogee S98 rugged phone is scheduled to launch for global sale around the end of March.
With just one glance you will notice the biggest eye-catchy feature of the smartphone i.e. the dual-screen design, yes, that too on a rugged device. In addition to the main display, it has a unique smart round rear display and its background is customizable using any picture of your choice. The use cases of this second display, according to Doogee, is endless including checking the time, controlling music, checking battery levels, among others.
Coming to the main display, the Doogee S98 features a 6.3-inch LCD FHD+ Waterdrop display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Talking about the performance, it is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G96 SoC with a clocking speed of 2.05GHz, this is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, which can be expanded further using a micro SD card.
Now, the cameras of this device are also decent enough, in the small hole punch, it houses the 16MP front camera while on the rear end you have an AI Triple camera setup (64MP+20MP+8MP). A 64MP sensor is the main camera supported by a SONY® IMX350 20MP Night vision camera and an 8MP wide-angle camera.
So, on the camera front too, the Doogee S98 is a very capable device as you also have a primary LED flashlight and infrared light to complete the setup on the back. The key USP of the camera will of course be that night vision camera, which according to Doogee is a fun one to use, it allows you to take pictures and videos in pitch black.
Much like any other rugged smartphone, this Doogee S98 also sports a humongous 6000mAh battery which can be charged by the 33W fast charger that comes in the package. Not only that but to make things even better this Doogee S98 also supports a 15W wireless charger.
The Doogee S98 will run Android 12 out of the box with the company confirming at least 3 years of security and Android version updates, a great commitment shown by Doogee. Other features include NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, side-mounted fingerprint sensor among others.
While sporting these many features, as a rugged device, this Doogee S98 is IP68 | IP69K rated. This means you can take a swim or wash the phone under a shower. It is MIL-STD-810G certified which means it should work fine in extreme weather as well.
Though Doogee hasn’t confirmed the exact launch date of S98, it is expected that the company will bring the Doogee S98 in the latter part of March. Until that time, we will keep you posted about the launch, availability and pricing and fans can take part in the giveaway currently going on the company’s official website.
