Liverpool have agreed the transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai, and have completed the deal to bring him to England. The Merseyside club moved very fast to secure the RB Leipzig midfielder, having agreed personal terms with him over a contract of five years until 2028. Szoboszlai will be wearing the number 8 shirt at the club, which famously belonged to Steven Gerrard.
They triggered his release clause worth €70 million to get the deal over the line. RB Leipzig are preparing to replace one of their best players ahead of the coming season. The DFB Pokal winners have signed Fabio Carvalho on loan from Liverpool as part of a separate deal to replace Szoboszlai. However, another attacking midfielder is likely to join ahead of the coming season.
Dominik Szoboszlai to sign for Liverpool
The Hungarian became one of the best players in the Bundesliga quickly after his arrival from RB Salzburg.
And now, he will be taking the next big step in his career by moving to the Premier League. The 22-year-old will be a very exciting addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Reds are rebuilding their midfield ahead of the coming season and have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
They are in talks with Khephren Thuram of Nice as well, and could have a very formidable midfield going into the new season. The presence of Dominik Szoboszlai will allow them to have a great offensive minded midfielder to help share the creative burden and play the attackers into goalscoring opportunities.
His remarkable ball-striking ability will allow him to take chances himself, especially from long-range. As a result, he is expected to be a very good signing under Klopp’s management.
