Liverpool are interested in signing Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this summer. The Hungarian is the latest attacking midfielder to be considered by the club, but no formal contacts have been made to sign him as of yet.
The player joined Leipzig in 2021, and has already put the best clubs in the world on notice with his impressive performances. He has also been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but the Magpies have also not made any concrete advances yet.
This past season, the 22-year-old scored six goals and provided eight assists in 31 league games. He also scored three and assisted two in six games as RB Leipzig won the DFB Pokal trophy for the second consecutive season.
Dominik Szoboszlai release clause details revealed
The midfielder has a release clause in his contract which is valid only till 30 June. The clause is valid worth €70 million, and must be matched via a formal bid before that date. In case the bid is submitted later, the clause will only be active for the winter transfer window.
So far, no club has made a formal offer to trigger the player’s release clause. And for the time being, it looks like he will be staying at RB Leipzig in spite of interest from some of the best clubs in the world.
Liverpool have loaned out Fabio Carvalho to RB Leipzig, and any potential deal for Dominik Szoboszlai would be totally unrelated to the loan move. The Reds have met with Szoboszlai’s representatives, but the talks between them are still in the very initial stages.
The Merseysiders are also interested in signing Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo, and are scouting their options before moving in to make a concrete offer.
