Doja Cat recently sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community by revealing her favorite rap verse of all time—and it’s not what most fans expected. During an Instagram Live session, the chart-topping artist praised Phonte’s verse on Little Brother’s 2002 track “Whatever You Say,” calling it one of the smoothest performances in rap history.

Doja Cat’s Unexpected Hip-Hop Deep Cut

While doing her makeup during the live stream, Doja Cat was caught mouthing along to the classic track. After the verse concluded, she couldn’t contain her enthusiasm, sharing with fans that this underground gem represented peak lyrical artistry.

What makes this endorsement particularly intriguing? Doja noted that Phonte “didn’t rhyme one f*cking word” throughout the verse, yet it remains unmatched in her eyes. She later clarified that while there might be one or two rhymes, the verse’s power comes from its conversational flow rather than traditional rhyme schemes.
