Disney Plus has taken in an increased number of subscribers owing to the pandemic. The streaming service provider has introduced various plans and features that are effortlessly eye-catching. Its VIP plan has seen an increased number of users during the IPL season.
The streaming service has recently taken a new route and has introduced a hike in its monthly subscription cost. According to sources, the company is doing the same thing done by Netflix and has increased $1 in its monthly subscription bringing the price to $7.99 a month.
According to sources, the price hike will begin on March 26, 2021, at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Even the Disney Bundle — that has Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Plus — will see a $1 increase to $13.99 a month. The price rise is mainly because the company has to invest heavily in getting its service content. Thus, to not garner any losses, it has to increase its subscription cost.
As Disney is heavily investing in bringing in new shows and movies to its streaming service, the company has to increase some amount in the subscription cost. Thus, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Even the company’s biggest competitor Netflix has increased its subscription rates earlier this month. As to whether this will affect the users outside the US remains to be seen.
