Director Ahn Pan Seok, Known For “Something in the Rain” and “One Spring Night,” Passes Away At 64

On August 12, the production team behind ENA’s upcoming drama “Romance Expert,” which Ahn Pan Seok directed, confirmed his passing in an official statement, expressing their heartbreak at sharing the news. The team noted that the announcement was made at the request of the director’s bereaved family, who have asked for privacy during funeral proceedings as they grieve.

It had previously been reported last month that Ahn Pan Seok was hospitalized after collapsing due to a cerebral hemorrhage. At the time, the production company had shared that he was recovering, and that filming and editing on his final project had already been completed.

Ahn Pan Seok: A Career Spanning Decades

Ahn Pan Seok built a celebrated career directing some of Korean television’s most acclaimed romance dramas, earning a reputation for emotionally resonant storytelling across projects spanning nearly three decades. His final work, Romance Expert, starring Choo Young Woo and Kim So Hyun, is scheduled to premiere in October and will stand as his last directorial project.
