Getting killed is bad enough. Getting killed and then hunted down for it is a whole other problem. Koo Kyo Hwan’s upcoming film “Revival Man: The Red” (literal translation) has just released new stills, and the premise alone makes it one of the more inventive Korean releases coming this fall.

Based on a webtoon, the film follows Seok Hwan (Koo Kyo Hwan), an unemployed job seeker whose biggest asset is unearned confidence and a temper that keeps blowing his interviews. His luck changes — in the worst possible way — when strangers break into his home and kill him. Except 72 hours later, he simply wakes up, alive and unharmed, and realizes he can resurrect. That’s when the mysterious pursuers show up.

A Role Built for Physical Comedy and Grit

Koo Kyo Hwan brings his signature charm to Seok Hwan, balancing humor with the tension of a man constantly on the run. He’s clearly aware of the physical toll the role demands too, sharing that he built up his stamina ahead of filming since the project “requires a lot of rolling around and moving.”

Director Baek Jong Yeol praised just how seamlessly Koo Kyo Hwan disappeared into the role, saying the line between actor and character became difficult to distinguish during filming.
