France have confirmed a new contract for their head coach, Didier Deschamps. The manager has penned a new deal with Les Bleus until 2026, which will be after the 2026 World Cup and will also include the 2024 Euros.
Deschamps’ contract expired following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, in which France finished as runners-up. And now, he has been given the opportunity to add to his decade-long legacy with the national team so far.

“I am going to announce something which for me is an immense pleasure, and that is that the president has decided to extend (my contract) until 2026,” Deschamps said at the FFF general assembly.
“I thank the president for his constant support and his continued confidence in me,” Didier Deschamps added. “It is essential for the France team to function well.”
Since taking over from Laurent Blanc in 2012, the 54-year-old led France to a runners-up finish in Euro 2016. He then led them to their second World Cup title in Russia in 2018, before impressing again in Qatar.
There were rumours that Zinedine Zidane would finally be named the new manager of the French national team. But, it seems like that will have to wait for at least four more years with the decision now made official.
