Just hours before the most anticipated Bollywood premiere of 2026, chaos erupted behind the scenes. What Actually Happened?
The dubbed versions of Dhurandhar: The Revenge did not release on premiere day, creating widespread disappointment among fans who had booked tickets for regional language shows. Scheduled Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam version premieres were cancelled across multiple locations — with several theatres already initiating refunds. The sudden development was linked to delays in content delivery, especially the second half of the film, which underwent last-minute re-edits.
Pinkvilla exclusively confirmed that while Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions of the film kicked off premieres on March 18, Malayalam and Kannada versions were officially delayed due to a censor certification delay. IMDb
The CBFC Process That Caused the Chaos
Dhurandhar: The Revenge underwent multiple CBFC-mandated changes, with Aditya Dhar implementing 21 suggestions — including cuts to violent scenes, muted abusive language, removal of visuals showing hammer blows, beheadings, and cement block attacks, plus added disclaimers for “disturbing content.” About 1 minute and 34 seconds of visuals were removed in total.
After all changes, the final runtime stands at 3 hours and 49 minutes — 14 minutes longer than the first film — and the film received an A (Adults Only) certificate. WDW News Today
