Don’t expect a standard masala actioner. Periasamy calls it an emotional true-crime drama at heart, built around friendship. It’s inspired by real incidents but set in a fictional world that he describes as “grey and gritty.” He also says the story isn’t tied to one region, so it’s meant to travel.

How the Dream Team Came Together?

The story behind the casting is almost as good as the film. Periasamy met Dhanush midway through Amaran, when the actor was assembling a team for his next project. Dhanush came on as producer and gave the director plenty of creative freedom.

Mammootty’s yes came fast. The director shared the synopsis in March last year and got a positive response within 15–20 minutes. A full narration followed after the veteran actor’s short break from acting.

Why the Release Moved?

The film was first planned for October. Dhanush confirmed the delay to avoid a box-office clash with Jailer 2 and Suriya’s Scene, which arrives on November 6. It’s a smart call that gives OM clear breathing room.
