Dev’s Big Puja Surprise: Anirban Joins ‘Deshu 7’ as Dev Takes Four Roles

Tollywood’s favorite on-screen pair, Dev and Subhashree Ganguly, is returning for their seventh film together, tentatively called ‘Deshu 7’. Set for a 2026 Durga Puja release, this movie has already created massive buzz with shocking announcements that have fans counting down the days.

Deshu 7: Key Information

Anirban’s Comeback Creates Waves

The biggest revelation is Anirban Bhattacharya joining the project. Last seen with Dev in Raghu Dakait, Anirban faced industry complications and alleged restrictions. However, Dev personally requested Prosenjit Chatterjee, the working president of the Artists Forum, to lift bans on various artists—paving the way for collaborations like this.

Dev announced this reunion through a witty social media video showing him and Subhashree in conversation. When Subhashree jokingly asks, “Another 72 hours? Won’t you stop?” Dev replies, “The day I stop, I’ll be finished.” Mid-conversation, Anirban dramatically enters the frame, and Dev asks him about date availability in June-July-August—confirming the shooting timeline.

Dev Wears Four Hats

In ‘Deshu 7’, Dev isn’t just acting—he’s directing, producing, writing the screenplay, and starring in the film. This multi-dimensional involvement mirrors strategies seen in the broader Indian film industry where actor-directors often create personalized cinematic visions.

This quadruple role demonstrates Dev’s creative control and ambition to deliver something truly special for Puja 2026.

The Magic of Dev-Subhashree Continues

Despite personal ups and downs, the Dev-Subhashree pairing remains Tollywood’s most bankable jodi. Their 2025 release Dhumketu, after years of anticipation, proved their chemistry remains intact with impressive box office numbers.

‘Deshu 7’ builds on this nostalgia from the 2010s era while presenting fresh content. The film’s title announcement is rumored for Bengali New Year (Poila Baisakh), further heightening anticipation.

Fan Frenzy Already Begins

Before shooting even starts, First Day First Show tickets bearing Dev and Subhashree’s signatures have created collector-level excitement among fans. This marketing strategy taps into the emotional connection Bengali audiences share with their screen icons.
