Detroit Pistons stumble to a record 26th defeat of the season against Nets

The Detroit Pistons have now matched the 76ers for the worst record in the NBA. They have lost 26 times this season, matching the 76ers during the 2013/14 season. One more loss will earn them the unwanted record all for themselves, with the most recent being their narrow 126-115 defeat against Brooklyn Nets.

Morale seems to have dropped significantly in the squad, as the locker room remained speechless after the loss. And the players have spoken out over the need for action after a thoroughly disappointing run this season.

“None of us went through this, ever,” center Isaiah Stewart said. “This is the hardest thing probably all of us went through, especially being in the pros.”

“Everybody wants to win, everybody hates losing, so it’s hard,” guard Cade Cunningham said. “We’ve got to be realistic as well. Can’t just keep saying the same things over and over, like we’ll get the next one. There has to be like a plan of action, so we’re just trying to figure that out.”

Perhaps the young squad age (under 25 years) is one of the reasons behind the Pistons’ consistent defeats. In spite of having NBA Coach of the Year 2021/22 Monty Williams in charge, they have fouled too much and have had too many turnovers. As a result, they might have no one to blame but themselves for their misfortune.
