Chelsea have reached an agreement with Juventus for the signing of Denis Zakaria. The player is undergoing his medical for the transfer in Italy, and has become a surprise deadline day signing for the Blues as part of a busy window.
He will be joining the Premier League side on a loan deal with the option to buy. As a result, the move could be temporary unless Chelsea decide to keep him permanently. He is expected to provide reinforcement in midfield, and would provide cover for N’Golo Kante and Jorginho as part of the holding roles.
Denis Zakaria to sign for Chelsea on loan
The West London club were interested in signing Ibrahim Sangare earlier. But, a move for him did not materialise. As a result, they have moved fast to sign the Swiss international on deadline day.
Todd Boehly’s side will be covering the entirety of Denis Zakaria’s wages for the season, and have an option to buy him for £30 million. They have also discussed a five-year contract for him in case he is signed for the long run.
There are concerns about his fitness due to his injury record, and whether he would be available enough to help the team. The question of whether he will be able to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League is also a big one, which will determine whether he will succeed or not.
