Originally announced in CES 2020, the Dell G5 15 SE Gaming laptop is now available in India via Flipkart, why it’s special? It features the latest AMD Ryzen 4000H processors & Radeon RX 5600M graphics. The new G5 15 gaming laptop series is one of the most promising laptops from the company as it is the first to feature both 7nm based AMD CPU and GPU combo, this, in turn, has a benefit in the form of AMD SmartShift technology.
Dell’s G5 15 gaming laptop promises to be a strong laptop to give gamers all the frames per second they need for competitive gaming and triple-A gaming titles. The laptop features a 15.6-inch Full-HD panel with a variable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz which supports FreeSync technology with 300 nits of peak brightness.
It features up to the top-of-the-line Ryzen 7 4800H has a base clock of 2.9GHz and a boost of 4.2GHz along with 12MB cache. We see 7CUs of Vega graphics with 1600MHz which is lower than we saw in the Ryzen 7 4800U. The higher TDP helps the SoC to provide higher base clock frequency of 2.9GHz. Also, there’s the 6 core, 12 threaded Ryzen 5 4600H with 3 GHz base clock and with turbo boost up to 4 GHz.
Dell is offering multiple single and dual-drive storage options as well, with up to a 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD and up to a 2TB 5400 RPM HDD and we expect multiple DDR4 RAM options as well. Dell has paired these Renoir APUs with dedicated AMD Radeon RX 5600M GPU with 6GB VRAM, making it the first-ever Renoir + Navi 10 combo, the laptop delivers smooth 1080p gaming performance comparable to GTX 1660 Ti.
The new AMD SmartShift technology is exclusive for its H-series Ryzen 4000 processors which is a power delivery mechanism. When the APU is paired with a discrete GPU, SmartShift will automatically adjust the power budget between the CPU and the discrete GPU for the max power budget allocated for the laptop.
With the help of this technology AMD says this delivers 10% better framerates in Division 2, and 12% faster Cinebench R20 NT. Also, Dell’s Alienware Command Center software allows users to tweak performance and customize gaming profiles.
The new Dell G5 15 SE gaming laptop comes equipped with an audio subsystem enhanced with Nahimic 3D Audio software. Dell also offering an optional WASD 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard that is customizable via the Alienware Command Center. For I/O and connectivity, the laptop features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GbE, USB Type-C, mini-DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 2.0, SD card slot, headphone jack and a webcam with IR sensors.
