A Delhi-based developer who apparently bought the domain ‘JioHotstar.com’ is in a legal interest with Reliance Industries. The dispute is a trademark battle over who really owns this domain as it was purchased by the developer particularly because he saw Jio and Disney+ Hotstar merger happening. Reliance, meanwhile, has taken legal recourse in order to address the issue.

More About the ‘JioHotstar.com’ Domain

Reliance allegedly told the developer – whose identity has not been revealed – that they contacted this person through Ambujesh Yadav, AVP of Commercials, and asked him to pay £93,345 which represents the tuition fees for the Executive MBA Course. The state began considering legal action after the developer refused to comply, although this information could not be independently verified by The Information.

On their website, the developer expressed feelings of helplessness against such a large corporation, arguing that there was no trademark for ‘JioHotstar’ at the time they acquired the domain in 2023, implying that they did not infringe on any intellectual property rights. They further cautioned the Prostitutes about loss of domain, potentially within an hour or so, and told them to get a legal professional. However, with the threat of court action looming large on the horizon; it’s unclear what steps to take in order, and he is praying for a resolution all while conceding that fighting against losing his domain could be fruitless.

The website statement read, “I don’t have the power to stand against Reliance. I don’t believe I infringed any trademark when I bought this in 2023, as JioHotstar was not yet established. No one had a trademark for JioHotstar when I purchased it. I may lose access to this domain in a few hours. I would greatly appreciate any assistance from a legal professional.” As the merger between Jio and Disney+ Hotstar progresses, Reliance has been working to consolidate its digital services under a unified brand. Given Jio’s strong telecom presence and Hotstar’s popularity in streaming, the domain carries significant value.
