Valve’s new MOBA shooter, Deadlock, continues to evolve as it remains in early development. Though the game is still in an invite-only phase, the number of active players is steadily increasing.

Initially, to manage the growing player base, the game operated on limited-time matchmaking, which often resulted in long wait times between matches. However, a recent patch has made a significant improvement — Deadlock matchmaking is now open 24/7, offering a seamless experience for all players.

Matchmaking Without Time Limits

Before the update, players faced restricted matchmaking hours, often leading to long downtimes when they couldn’t access the servers. The servers were divided into five regions: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, each with its own set matchmaking hours.

This system created challenges, as players had to adjust to different time zones and wait until the matchmaking window opened in their respective regions.

With the latest patch, this is no longer the case. Now, players can access matchmaking at any time, across all regions. When opening the game, users will no longer be greeted by a message informing them about specific matchmaking hours.

Instead, they can instantly join the action, removing a significant barrier that once hindered the gaming experience. This change marks a turning point, as players no longer have to adjust their schedules or switch regions to find a match.

Deadlock Patch Notes: New Features and Improvements

Beyond the 24/7 matchmaking, the latest Deadlock patch brings additional updates aimed at improving gameplay for both new and experienced players.

Beginner-Friendly Matchmaking

One of the standout changes in this patch is the introduction of beginner-friendly matchmaking. According to the patch notes, new players must now win four games before being placed into MMR-based (Matchmaking Rating) matches.

This ensures that novices are matched with others at a similar skill level, allowing them to learn the game mechanics and strategies without being overwhelmed by more experienced opponents. By creating a safer space for new players to develop their skills, Deadlock fosters a more inclusive environment.

New Mini-Map Design

Another notable change in the patch is the redesign of the mini-map. The original square-shaped map has been replaced with a round version that features fewer details, making it easier for players to navigate during fast-paced matches.

The simplified mini-map allows players to focus more on gameplay without being distracted by unnecessary information, contributing to a smoother overall experience.

Custom Key Bindings and Hero Adjustments

The patch also introduces customizable key bindings for each hero, giving players more control over their gameplay. Now, players can modify their controls to fit their individual playstyle for each character, enhancing the flexibility and personalization of the game. Additionally, several heroes have had their abilities and items tweaked for better balance, further refining the game’s competitive dynamics.

Console Updates

Finally, for those who enjoy using the console for advanced controls, a new setting has been added. Players must now enable this feature by pressing F7 before using the console, adding an extra layer of accessibility for technical users.

With the latest patch, Deadlock has taken significant steps toward enhancing its player experience. The introduction of 24/7 matchmaking eliminates the frustration of waiting for specific hours, while beginner-friendly matchmaking and other game improvements make the overall gameplay smoother and more enjoyable for all players. As Deadlock continues to develop, these updates suggest a promising future for the game.
