Netflix Release Date Predictions

Here’s the timeline Netflix fans need to know: Based on the current licensing agreement between Netflix and AMC, season 4 should arrive on Netflix US around July 4, 2026—approximately five months after the AMC premiere. This follows the pattern where Netflix receives new seasons roughly a year after the previous season dropped on the platform.

For international viewers in the UK, Australia, and other regions where Dark Winds streams, you’ll likely wait a bit longer, though exact dates haven’t been confirmed yet. Netflix expanded the show to over 30 countries in late 2025, proving its global appeal.

What’s Coming in Season 4?

The stakes have never been higher! Season 4 follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee, and Bernadette Manuelito as they investigate a missing Navajo girl. The case pulls them beyond the reservation into 1970s Los Angeles, where they clash with an organized crime network. This expansion marks the show’s biggest scope yet while maintaining its authentic cultural perspective.

Star Power Alert: Zahn McClarnon returns as Leaphorn and makes his directorial debut this season! The cast welcomes exciting additions including Franka Potente, Chaske Spencer, and Titus Welliver alongside returning favorites Kiowa Gordon, Jessica Matten, and Deanna Allison.

Why Dark Winds Became a Netflix Hit

Since arriving on Netflix in summer 2024, Dark Winds has accumulated an impressive 87.5 million viewing hours with 19.2 million viewing equivalents. The show spent 41 days in the US Top 10 and charted in 29 countries—numbers that speak to its universal resonance.

What makes it special? Dark Winds delivers authentic Native American representation, complex mysteries, and stunning cinematography of the Southwest.
