Daredevil: Born Again Ends After Season 3: Why Marvel Is Closing Its Disney+ Trilogy

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on September 21 that Daredevil: Born Again will wrap after its third season, set for March 2027. The same report says showrunner Dario Scardapane left mid-post-production because his contract wasn’t renewed. Many fans expected the series to run for years, especially since Marvel’s streaming chief had talked about an annual run back in 2025.

Marvel’s Disney+ Trilogies at a Glance

Once Season 3 lands, Marvel will have closed three trilogies on Disney+, with no other live-action series officially lined up after it.

Why Is It Ending?

Numbers likely tell part of the story. Season 1 drew 7.5 million views worldwide in its first five days, the biggest Disney+ debut of 2025. Season 2 then saw US viewership fall by roughly 50 percent, according to Luminate.

There’s also a wider pattern:

• Wonder Man was cancelled after one season, despite an Emmy nomination.
• Spider-Noir was cancelled after a single season.
• A report in August said Marvel will stop investing in live-action Disney+ series.

Where Marvel Is Heading

Animation looks safest for now:

• X-Men ’97: Season 3 arrives in 2027, and Season 4 is already ordered.
• Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man: Season 2 comes in January 2027, and Season 3 is greenlit.
• Marvel Zombies: Season 2 is ordered.

Live-action looks thin, though a spy thriller called Zodiac is reportedly greenlit. With a universe reset expected after Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel may simply be reshaping its streaming slate. Animated shows sit outside mainline continuity, which would explain why they’re unaffected.
