Dangerous Liaisons Finally Streams on Netflix After Nearly 4 Years in Limbo

Starz’s ill-fated period drama Dangerous Liaisons is getting a second chance — and this time, on Netflix. The 18th-century Parisian romance drops on Netflix US on October 27, 2026, marking its first-ever appearance on the streamer after being pulled from every platform back in 2023.

What Is Dangerous Liaisons About?

Created by Harriet Warner, the eight-episode series is a lavish prequel to Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s classic 18th-century novel Les Liaisons dangereuses, which famously inspired the 1988 Glenn Close film and the 1999 teen cult classic Cruel Intentions. It traces how the notorious Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont first fell for each other on the streets of pre-Revolution Paris. Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton lead, backed by Lesley Manville and Carice van Houten. whats-on-netflix

Dangerous Liaisons: Overview

Why Did It Disappear in the First Place?

Starz shockingly renewed the show for Season 2 in late 2022 — then reversed course and cancelled it just weeks later, while Season 1 was still airing. Adding insult to injury, Starz wiped it from its app entirely in early 2023 as a tax write-off move, leaving fans with no legal way to watch it. Nearly four years on, Netflix’s licensing deal with Lionsgate/Starz is finally giving it a home.

Will Netflix Revive It?

Don’t count on it. Similar hopes surrounded Heels after its Netflix pickup, and that show still left without a renewal. Netflix UK is separately developing its own take on the material with Nicôle Lecky, though that project is in very early stages. Dangerous Liaisons joins a growing wave of Starz titles — including Power, Hightown, and Party Down — landing on Netflix as part of an aggressive content-licensing push.
