What Makes D55 Special?
This project brings together two creative forces for the first time. Director Rajkumar Periasamy, who recently delivered the critically acclaimed Amaran, is known for his gripping storytelling and strong character development. Pairing him with the versatile Dhanush promises cinema that’s both intense and emotionally resonant.
The production lineup has shifted, with Wunderbar Films (Dhanush’s home banner) now partnering with RTake Studios after initial producers backed out. This change ensures the actor has creative control over this ambitious venture.
Mammootty and Sai Pallavi: The Exciting Cast Buzz
Industry insiders suggest Sai Pallavi is being considered for the female lead role, which would reunite audiences with another powerhouse performer. More intriguingly, Malayalam megastar Mammootty is reportedly in talks for a pivotal character.
If confirmed, D55 would mark the second collaboration between Dhanush and Mammootty, following their brief appearance together in the 2013 Malayalam film Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath. The prospect of these two legends sharing significant screen time has fans across Tamil Nadu and Kerala buzzing with excitement.
According to IMDb, both actors are known for choosing scripts that challenge conventional storytelling, making D55 a potentially groundbreaking project.
Dhanush’s Current Projects
Before D55 hits the floors, Dhanush will appear in Kara, an action-thriller directed by Vignesh Raja. The film explores a man’s struggle between virtue and sin while protecting his family, co-starring Mamitha Baiju, Jayaram, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
His recent Hindi film Tere Ishk Mein (directed by Aanand L. Rai) began streaming on Netflix from January 23, 2026, giving fans a taste of his range before D55’s announcement.
