Finding Rache Bartmoss’s legendary cyberdeck in Cyberpunk 2077 is like discovering computing history’s holy grail. This legendary netrunner’s personal hardware represents one of the most significant tech artifacts in Night City, and obtaining it requires completing a specific quest chain that many players miss entirely.

Who Was Cyberpunk 2077 Rache Bartmoss?

Rache Bartmoss is a legendary netrunner in the Cyberpunk-series who in the early 21st century became notorious as the man who caused the DataKrash and killed the old Net. This gaming legend began netrunning at just four years old and became one of the most feared hackers in Cyberpunk lore, making his cyberdeck an invaluable prize.

Prerequisites: The Quest Chain You Need

Before you can claim Bartmoss’s cyberdeck, you must complete specific prerequisite missions. The cyberdeck is exclusively obtainable through the “Kold Mirage” side job, which has its own requirements.

Quest Requirements Table

Quest Step	Requirement	Location	Reward Access
Spellbound	Complete first	Afterlife Bar	Unlocks Kold Mirage
Notice of Expiration	Read the shard	Any method	Alternative trigger
Kold Mirage	Main quest	Municipal Landfill	Bartmoss’s Cyberdeck

How to Start the Kold Mirage Quest

Some time after completing Spellbound, Nix will text V stating he has decrypted the spellbook, and provides coordinates to a location deep in the Municipal Landfill, down the road past Medeski Fuel Station. This text message serves as your primary gateway to finding the legendary cyberdeck.

Alternatively, if they read the Notice of Expiration shard found during the “Many Ways to Skin a Cat” mission, “Kold Mirage” will start automatically, providing a secondary route to access this quest.

Step-by-Step Location Guide

Once you’ve triggered the Kold Mirage quest, head to the Municipal Landfill in the Badlands. The Legendary hacker can be found in a landfill, the same pot where V was recovered by Dexter and Takemura.

Finding Bartmoss’s Body

At the landfill location, you’ll discover two important areas:

First Body: Contains a rare Power Pistol and other loot
The Freezer: Nearby, you should spot a freezer lying on its side. Open it up to reveal another body and Johnny will appear and give you some information on the identity of the corpse

Obtaining the Cyberdeck

Search Bartmoss, and you will find his cyberdeck—which is an absolutely huge deal in the Cyberpunk universe. When you tell Nix, he jokingly compares it to finding Alan Turing’s personal logs. This comparison perfectly captures the significance of your discovery.

The cyberdeck itself is a 2020s SGI Industries cyberdeck model Elysia, owned by Netrunner legend Rache Bartmoss, making it both a functional piece of equipment and a collector’s item.

The Nix Dilemma: Saving Your Contact

During the Kold Mirage quest, you’ll face a critical decision regarding Nix’s safety. The cyberdeck contains dangerous data that could harm him, creating a moral choice that affects the quest’s outcome.

Important Choice: You can choose to save Nix from the cyberdeck’s harmful effects, which influences both the story and your relationship with this important netrunner contact.
