Following one of the worst launches in video game history, Cyberpunk 2077 has enjoyed a sort of renaissance thanks to a slew of upgrades that have grown and turned the game into what the studio most likely envisioned. The turnaround not only attracted more players but also fueled CD Projekt RED’s highest financial quarter ever in Q3 2022.
The franchise’s continued development within the context of the game’s spectacular success prompted CD Projekt RED to announce both a sequel and a new expansion. Actor Idris Elba was revealed as a key character that players would be interacting with when Phantom Liberty was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2022.
