Qualcomm Snapdragon Generation 1 has been unveiled today and the next-gen chip is soon to power upcoming flagship devices, this article delves into some of the devices that we can expect to pack the new chipset.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip supports 4K resolution with up to 60Hz or 60 frames per second refresh rate, it also supports QHD+ resolution with a high refresh rate of 144Hz.

The chip also supports 3 GHz Kryo CPU support with ARM Cortex-X2 64-bit technology. The latest chipset also manages power better by 25% as compared to the Snapdragon 888. Coming to the optics, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 introduces support for Snapdragon Sight Technology that allows smartphones to work with Qualcomm’s first-ever 18-bit image signal processor and it marks a significant jump from a 14-bit solution used by other chips.

So, now that you have an idea of the upgrades the new SoC will get, without further adieu, here are the devices that will likely carry the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1:

OnePlus 10 Series:

OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship smartphone series will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. While the Oppo-owned company did not specifically reveal the name of the device that it will integrate the latest chipset in, rumors indicate that the OnePlus 10 Series will be unveiled in early 2022.

The series is likely to consist of the OnePlus 10 and the OnePlus 10 Pro. The rumor mill has been buzzing with the expected features and specs of these devices.

The OnePlus 10 Pro is reported to have a 6.7″ Quad HD+ AMOLED display with 1440 x 3216-pixel resolution. The display is said to come with a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

The handset is said to come with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and may offer up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.

The OnePlus 10, is expected to offer a 50MP ultra-wide camera paired with a 48MP main sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens. At the front, it will have a 32MP shooter.

Both the devices will mostly have the Hasselblad rear camera setup. On the software side of things, the smartphones are expected to come with Android 12 based OxygenOS 12.

The Xiaomi 12 Series:

The Xiaomi 12 Series may be the first to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon chip, in a tweet, Xiaomi CEO, Mr.Lei Jun said that the Xiaomi 12 Series will be the “world’s first smartphones powered by the new Snapdragon 8 5G Gen 1 mobile platform.”

While Xiaomi has not revealed an exact launch date for the Xiaomi 12 Series, it does say that the phones will be arriving soon. Previous reports suggest that the Xiaomi 12 line-up will debut on December 12.

The Realme GT 2 Pro:

Realme has also joined the list of companies looking to unveil a device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

The upcoming realme GT Pro 2 is going to be realme’s “first-ever ultra-premium flagship”, rising above the likes of the X50 Pro and precious members in the GT family.

Realme has stated that the development of the device has begun a few months prior, and this will end up being a “truly high-end flagship product that will exceed the expectations of young users around the world”.

Realme has not revealed the exact date of the GT 2 Pro’s launch, but Realme VP Madhav Sheth has announced the smartphone will arrive later this month.

Apart from this, we have also witnessed rumors of Oppo‘s latest offering, the Find X4 Series, the iQOO 9 Series, and also the Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup to all have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. However, not much is known with respect to these devices.

Guess the only way to find out is by waiting and watching!
