A new local T20 competition that would compete with international leagues like the IPL, BBL, and the Hundred has been announced by CSA (Cricket South Africa). The IPL owners have purchased six of the league’s clubs, according to the most recent reports.

There were 29 Expressions of Interest (EoIs) submitted when the bidding for the teams concluded on July 13. Although the winning bids have not yet been made public, sources suggest that up to six teams may receive support from current IPL team owners.

According to reports, Mukesh Ambani of the Mumbai Indians, N Srinivasan of the Chennai Super Kings, Parth Jindal of the Delhi Capitals, the Marans of SunRisers Hyderabad, Sanjiv Goenka of the Lucknow Super Giants, and Manoj Badale of the Rajasthan Royals are thought to have acquired ownership of the six franchises that are still up for grabs in the CSA T20 league.

The two most prosperous IPL franchises, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, will have their teams based in Cape Town and Johannesburg, respectively. The Pretoria Capitals, a Centurion franchise of the Delhi Capitals, will be in Pretoria.

The owner of the Lucknow Super Giants, Sanjiv Goenka, is interested in purchasing the Durban franchise. While the Rajasthan Royals’ squad will be located in Paarl, SRH may have its team in Port Elizabeth.

The CSA league, which is slated to start up the following year, will compete against a different, equally new T20 league in the United Arab Emirates, with many well-known players favoring the latter.

While Moeen Ali has agreed to participate in the UAE-based event, it is thought that the English players, including white-ball captain Jos Buttler and outstanding all-rounder Liam Livingstone, are more inclined to join the South African league.

While Dwayne Bravo will probably be a member of the CSK-backed club in the South African league, the West Indies player contingent also favors playing in the UAE league. Faf du Plessis, a free agent and international T20 standout, plans to participate in the league in his native South Africa.
