Cristiano Ronaldo has become the Manchester United player with the most Premier League Player of the Month awards. The number 7 has been named the Player of the Month for April, and has now earned the award six times during his time with the Red Devils.
With his sixth, he has overtaken Wayne Rooney, who had earned five such awards during his time with the club. Since returning, this is the second time that Ronaldo has been named the Player of the Month. In April, the 37-year-old scored five goals in four games to be chosen as the recipient.
Cristiano Ronaldo breaks another Manchester United record
The Portugal international is the club’s top scorer this season, with 18 goals to his name. He has enjoyed a decent return to English football even though the team has struggled very badly over the course of the season.
In April, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th Premier League goal in the 3-1 loss to Arsenal. He scored his 50th career hat-trick in the 3-2 win against Norwich, and also scored in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea. He missed the game against Liverpool due to the tragic death of his newborn son, but was able to return to form after a short leave.
Alongside David De Gea, he is one of the team’s only positives as they only picked up four points from five games.
Ronaldo is only one award away from matching Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero with for the most Player of the Month awards, with the two strikers having seven each.
